So you’ve written your new blog post or article on your website, now what? You need to make sure your new content is being ranked by Google so it can be found. In this article you will learn how to get your blog recognized by Google Faster.
The problem is you’ve spent all this time building what you think is a great blog post or article and yet when you do a search in Google, it does not appear, or it is very low in the search.
Some people think that eventually their content will be found, it’s a matter of time, and there is nothing they can do to speed up the process. I do not agree, and neither will you, if you follow these 7 steps.
Step 1 – Create a Sitemap
A sitemap is a listing of all your pages, in XLM format, when a page changes, so does your sitemap. Here is an example of the sitemap for my website. You can create a sitemap with the free version of Yoast Plugin ( if you are using WordPress). It it easy to set up and configure, see this article for details.
Step 2 – Submit Sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools
Once you have created your sitemap you can now submit it to Google. To do this you need to set up an account with Google Webmaster Tools, a free service offered by Google. Here are instructions on how to set this up.
Step 3 – Install Google Analytics
You need to do this to find out about your website traffic. I recommend installing Google Analytics Plugin by MonsterInsights to your WordPress website. This will also give Google a heads up that there is new site out there.
Step 4 – Submit URL to Search Engines
Sign into your Google account and go to the Submit URL option in the Webmaster Tools. You can also submit to Bing by going here.
Step 5 – Share Your New Blog Post on Google+ and other Social Media
If you want to get higher ranking in Google why wouldn’t you share on their Social platform? It just makes sense. Here is a great article outlining the benefits.
By sharing your links in a status update on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, search engines that are tracking social signals will be alerted. For Pinterest, Pin a photo from your blog post. See how often to post in this infographic…
Step 6 – Set up your RRS with Feedburner
Feedburner is Google’s RSS management tool. An RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, and allows users to access updates to online content in a standardized, computer-readable format. Sign into your Google account and copy your blog’s URL and paste it into the “Burn a feed” field. This will help Google find your new posts faster in addition to submitting your sitemap.
Step 7 – Submit to Blog Directories
Toprank has a huge list of sites you can submit your RSS and blog to. This will help with incoming links.
Once your site is properly indexed, you will start to see more traffic. Because blogs are indexed faster than pages, if you have a new product or service write a blog post about it and share it to your social network. This will help the product be found faster by the Googlebot.

All these steps are so true! There is so much competition and if you’re not found on Google or on the other search engines, you may be missing a large chunk of business. The blog development is important but the SEO, keyword research will make your business stand out and get you noticed, perhaps even on the 1st page without having to pay for an ad.
